Freyja 2.0.5 Makes Mood Check-Ins Less Blank

Freyja 2.0.5 adds preset feelings to mood check-ins, keeps Today focused on one useful read, improves over-goal hydration progress, and tightens companion answers around your actual data.

Freyja 2.0.5 is live.

This is a small release on paper. In use, it changes one of the most important moments in the app: the mood check-in.

Most mood trackers ask a deceptively hard question: how do you feel?

That sounds simple until you are tired, rushed, foggy, crampy, distracted, or just not in the mood to translate a body state into a neat sentence. A blank text field is not always an invitation. Sometimes it is work.

Freyja 2.0.5 makes that check-in less blank.

Preset Feelings

Mood check-ins now include preset feelings.

When you open the logger, Freyja suggests a small set of tags for the day. Some are shaped by your current cycle phase when cycle tracking is enabled. Menstrual days may surface body-heavy options like cramps, bloating, tiredness, tenderness, or low energy. Follicular days may surface steadier options like calm, focused, motivated, content, or productive. If Freyja does not have cycle context, the suggestions stay balanced.

The point is not to tell you how you feel. It is to make logging easier when one of the words already fits.

You can tap a few suggested feelings, or open the full list. The full library is grouped into three plain categories: feelings, body, and day. That matters because mood is rarely just mood. Sometimes the useful signal is emotional. Sometimes it is physical. Sometimes it is the shape of the day: focused, busy, scattered, withdrawn, overwhelmed.

Freyja now gives you language for those differences without turning the check-in into a therapy worksheet.

Why Tags Matter

A score is useful, but it is thin.

"Mood 3, energy 2" tells Freyja something. "Tired, foggy, bloated" tells it something else. The tags make the record more specific without requiring a long note. Over time, that lets Freyja compare the texture of a day with cycle timing, hydration, sleep, movement, UV context, and other local signals.

The privacy boundary stays the same. These logs are stored on your iPhone. There is no Freyja account, no cloud health sync, and no PelagicLabs server holding your health data.

That architecture is why we are comfortable making the check-in richer. Richer health logging is only acceptable when the data is treated with more care, not less.

Today Still Picks One Thing

This release also keeps refining the Today screen.

Freyja tracks several domains: hydration, cycle, UV, mood and energy, nutrition context, movement, sleep, and skin comfort. The failure mode for an app like that is obvious. Everything becomes a card. Every card wants attention. The first screen turns into a stack of technically useful things with no editorial judgment.

Freyja 2.0.5 continues moving in the opposite direction.

Today still leads with one priority instead of making every domain compete. If the clearest thing is UV, it can lead. If the more useful read is hydration, period timing, sleep, activity, or a body-state pattern, that can lead instead. If the evidence is thin, Freyja stays quieter.

Hydration Reads Better Over Goal

Hydration progress also gets a calmer treatment when you go past your target.

The progress bar already moved toward a more instrument-like design: less generic app chrome, more quiet measuring tool. In this update, over-goal days read more clearly. Going past the target should not feel broken, noisy, or like the app is celebrating for the sake of it. It should simply show that you are over the line and keep the rest of the interface steady.

Hydration in Freyja remains intentionally conservative. Your target does not automatically change because of your cycle phase. Weather, activity, and cycle context can shape reminders and supporting notes, but they do not rewrite the number for you.

Companion Answers Stay Closer to the Data

Freyja's companion answers also stay closer to the data behind them.

That is deliberately less flashy than saying the app got smarter. For health and body context, smarter is not enough. The answer has to stay grounded. If the app is talking about hydration, mood, cycle timing, UV, sleep, or movement, it should work from the records available on the device and avoid inventing certainty where the data is thin.

This is especially important as mood check-ins get richer. More vocabulary should not mean more overconfident interpretation. Freyja's job is to help you notice patterns, not diagnose you, predict your mood, or turn a few logs into a story it cannot support.

The Shape of Freyja 2

Freyja 2 is becoming more useful by becoming more selective.

The app now has enough domains to become noisy if we let it. We are not letting it. Preset feelings make logging easier. Today keeps choosing one thing worth noticing. Hydration stays practical. Companion answers stay tied to your actual data. Privacy remains the foundation underneath all of it.

Fewer blank moments, fewer competing signals.
