Cookie Policy

1. Scope

This policy applies to pelagiclabs.io. It explains the browser storage and optional measurement tools used by the PelagicLabs website. The GILLI and NORDR mobile apps have separate privacy notices and do not use this website cookie banner.

2. Our consent rule

Necessary storage is available without consent because it is required to remember your privacy choice or a language choice you requested. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights are non-essential. They remain unloaded until you select “Allow analytics”. Missing, invalid, expired, or withdrawn consent is treated as a refusal.

Refusing analytics does not limit access to the website. You can change your choice at any time through the “Privacy choices” control displayed on the site or the button below. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred lawfully before withdrawal.

3. Browser storage we use

Hosting, security, and content-delivery infrastructure may also use transient technical storage that is strictly necessary to deliver a request, balance traffic, prevent abuse, or maintain service security. Such storage is not used by PelagicLabs for advertising or cross-site profiling.

4. Optional Vercel measurement

After consent, the website loads Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. These tools help us understand aggregate page use and technical performance. They are provided by Vercel, which also hosts the website.

Depending on the request and tool, the measurements can include:

• page URL, route or dynamic path, timestamp, and referring page;
• filtered query parameters configured by the service;
• browser, operating system, device category, and country-level location;
• network connection information and Core Web Vitals or other performance values;
• the analytics SDK version and the time the measurement was received.

PelagicLabs does not use these measurements for advertising, individual marketing, or tracking you across unrelated websites. Vercel states that its privacy-focused analytics do not create persistent visitor profiles and that transient session identifiers are discarded after a limited period. Ordinary network delivery still exposes an IP address to Vercel as hosting provider for security and request handling.

The legal basis for loading these optional tools is your consent under GDPR Article 6(1)(a), together with the applicable rules on access to or storage of information on a device. No analytics request is initiated by PelagicLabs before affirmative consent.

5. Recipients and international transfers

Vercel processes hosting and, after consent, analytics and performance data for PelagicLabs. Vercel and its subprocessors may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers must be supported by an adequacy decision, Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful GDPR transfer mechanism. You may contact us for further information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

6. Browser controls and withdrawal

You can also delete or block cookies through your browser. Blocking necessary storage may cause the privacy banner or language selection to reappear. Browser controls do not replace the website control for withdrawing analytics consent; using “Privacy choices” immediately prevents future optional analytics components from loading on subsequent navigation and visits covered by the stored choice.

7. Tools we do not currently use

The website does not currently use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, third-party social-media widgets, cross-site advertising profiles, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar marketing trackers. We will update this policy and obtain prior consent before introducing a new non-essential category.
