Reve (Revtangen) surf forecast

Point break in Jæren, Norway, scored hour by hour in NORDR against the wind angle for the way it faces, the swell direction it wants, and the tide it works on.

How it breaks

Reve wraps a cuspate foreland at Revtangen: a right point over sand and stone by the harbour on west to northwest swell, and a second point south of it that breaks both directions.

Getting there

Park by Reve harbour and pick the side of the foreland that suits the swell direction.

Watch out for

  • Jærens Rev, a shallow moraine reef running about five kilometres offshore, breaks heavily on large swell.
  • Boulders and rips around both points.

Local detail

The offshore rev filters big northwest swell, so Reve stays organised on days that maul the open beaches.

The Reve Sør zone sits in a bird reserve where surfing is prohibited from 1 October to 31 March.

Tide dependency: not the limiter

Tide is not what decides whether this break works, so NORDR does not score it as one. Fetch, swell period and the wind angle against the beach do the deciding here.
